	$100,000 Grant to UA Researchers Will Help Increase Mammograms and Breast Cancer Awareness for Latinas in Arizona Drs. Jorge Gomez and Usha Menon, principal investigators on the Breast Cancer Research Foundation grant, will target their efforts on the U.S.-Mexico border population to decrease cancer disparities in the Hispanic female population.

	FRONTERA featured in Nogales International FRONTERA is a University of Arizona summer research experience program focusing on the border area. The program’s outreach efforts in Nogales were featured in Nogales International. FRONTERA participants are going door-to-door to educate people about mosquito-borne illnesses and how to prevent them as part of a statewide “Fight the Bite” project.
	PharmCamp featured in Nogales International PharmCamp is a summer-based community outreach program conducted by the University of Arizona (UA) College of Pharmacy. More than 300 middle school aged students from Tucson and Yuma, Arizona have participated in the one-week camp. Activities consist of supervised workshops, laboratory exercises, discussions, field trips, tours, and activities. The orientation and learning activities are intended to raise the students’ awareness and interest for the exciting aspects of pharmacy and the health sciences.
	Environmental Health Disparities in Native American Communities Focus of New UA/NAU Research Center The University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health and Northern Arizona University received a $5 million grant to improve health in Native American and Alaska Native communities overburdened by pollution and other environmental factors that contribute to health disparities.
