When are the dates of the AZ-HOPE Summer Bridge Program?
The AZ-HOPE Summer Bridge Program occurs during the last UA Summer Session. This is generally the beginning of July to the beginning of August.
Who should apply to AZ-HOPE Programming?
- Rising Junior and Senior in High School students
- Allied Health Professions degree students
- Community College students - particularly those with an expressed interest in transferring to a 4-year pre-health or health professions program
- Undergraduate students pursuing Health Professions careers
- Adult Non-Traditional Learners
- Military Veterans
- Advanced Health Professions degree students (including conditional admissions Post-baccalaureate programs)
Am I eligible for AZ-HOPE Programming?
Eligibility for AZ-HOPE
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to apply for the Arizona Health Opportunities Pathways to Excellence (AZ-HOPE) program:
- U.S. citizen, non-citizen national or permanent resident who possesses a visa permitting permanent residence in the United States.
- Currently enrolled or accepted into an educational program in an Arizona high school, allied health professions program, community college, 4-year college/university or health professional school.
- Interested in a health career or the health sciences.
- Have a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or greater (cumulative) on a 1.0 – 4.0 scale.
- Economically OR educationally disadvantaged (see definitions below).*
*If you meet one of the following economic or educational characteristics you are eligible to apply:
Economically disadvantaged:
- Eligible for, or have previously received, a Pell grant as part of a college financial aid award
- Annual income considered ”low income” according to federal poverty level guidelines
Educationally disadvantaged:
- Neither of your parents or guardians graduated from a 4-year college or university
- You graduated from (or last attended) a high school with low per capita funding
How much does participating in AZ-HOPE cost?
There is no cost to participate in AZ-HOPE Programming.
How do I begin the process? Where do I start?
Begin by filling out the application. Applicants must create a profile with an email address to complete the process. When you complete the application you can email yourself a return code which will allow you to return to your application and make any changes until you are ready to submit a completed application.
How do I apply online?
Each applicant must create an account with a valid email address using the links on the main page. Fill in the appropriate information required for the application. Students may save their application information and return at any time using the return code to make changes before a final submit to our office.

When will I hear back about the status of my application?
We will notify all applications within 4 weeks of the primary deadline date of their status with the program.
Do I need recommendations?
Yes. As part of the online application process, one (1) online recommendation form must be completed for your application to be considered for AZ-HOPE Ambassadors, Scholars, and BRIDGE.
What are the expectations as an AZ-HOPE Ambassador?
We required AZ-HOPE Ambassadors to connect with an ODI Learning Specialist a minimum of two (2) times a semester (preferably at the beginning and end of the semester), attend monthly meetings, and complete hands-on learning activities or clinical experiences. During this meeting, students will develop an academic/career plan with the learning specialists. Additionally, AZ-HOPE Ambassadors will connect with the Case Manager regularly throughout each semester.
Can I have a summer job or attend another summer program during the AZ-HOPE Summer BRIDGE Program?
We would advise students to not plan on having a job or additional summer program while in the AZ-HOPE Summer BRIDGE program. The program will be 6 hours a day (i.e. 9:00-3:00) Monday-Friday.
