About the speakers:

Amy Thomas, OD, FCOVD is a Board-Certified Optometrist experienced in Vision Development and Rehabilitation. She is an international speaker to help further the art and science of therapeutic lenses, syntonic phototherapy and vision therapy.

She was born in North Dakota and joined the Army when she was 17 because she wanted to figure out what she was missing. She suffered from vision problems herself but was not aware of how those problems were affecting her until she learned about them in optometry school. It was during her studies at Pacific University College of Optometry that Dr. Thomas discovered Vision Therapy. She noticed that a lot of the patients that went through Vision Therapy read, studied, and interacted with the world just like her - this discovery prompted her to use Vision Therapy on herself to improve her skills.

After optometry school, the first location that she worked was in Heidelberg, Germany for the US Army. From there, she was introduced to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. This is where a lot of the soldiers and airmen with brain injuries from Iraq and Afghanistan were first sent before they could go home.

At Landstuhl, she was able to participate in diagnosing and working with vision problems caused by brain injuries.

After the rotation at Landstuhl, she left the Army and moved to Tucson, AZ where she set up a Vision Therapy practice of her own. To prepare to be the best Vision Therapy doctor that she could be, she took every course that she could find that dealt with vision development and rehabilitation. She has taken over 600 hours of post-doctorate education.

Karin earned her RN license at the age of 21 in Sweden, her birth-country. Soon after, she left for Saudi Arabia to work and travel. After spending 15 years in the Desert Kingdom she relocated to Tucson in 2003 where she worked at the University Medical Center caring for premature babies in the NICU, and later managing Labor and Delivery/Mother Baby Units.

On her path to finding a way of healing the body, mind, and soul, she has pursued training in Structural Energetic Therapy (SET), Cranio Sacral Therapy, Reiki, and the practice of Tai Chi Chuan. Karin completed her certification in Integrative Health Coaching at the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine in 2016 which led to creating her own practice – Resonate with Healing.

As a Structural Energetic Therapist (SET) Karin works with chronic pain and other issues usually considered difficult to address with long-term or permanent results. Karin started working closely with Dr Amy Thomas, OD FCOVD, in 2018. She provides Structural Energetic Therapy to patients of all ages as an adjunct to specialized lenses and vision therapy. Conditions treated includes but are not limited to; post concussion syndrome, traumatic brain injuries, autism, chronic headaches, and much more.
