WATCH PRESENTATION

The speaker will give an overview of Chinese Medicine, including a brief history and the techniques used in the practice, such as acupuncture, moxibustion and adjunct therapies like herbal medicine and cupping therapy. The speaker will also emphasize that Chinese Medicine is a holistic medical system that treats the whole person, not just the symptoms of the disease.

Speaker Series: Heritage Healing Practices

Speaker: Hong Jin, DAOM, MD (PRC), LAc

About the Speaker: Hong Jin, DAOM, MD (PRC), LAc, Dipl. Ac. is a professor and a private practice practitioner.

She received her medical degree from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, China, in 1985. After graduating, she taught Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at Nanjing International Acupuncture Training Center, World Health Organization Collaborative Center on Traditional Medicine for 6 years.

In 2007, She received her Doctor of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (DAOM) degree from OCOM with the specialty of Women’s Health and Geriatrics. Since then, she teaches both master and doctoral programs at OCOM, as well as served as the Vice Chair and Board representative of OCOM’s Faculty Senate for 6 years. In 2019, she became Chair Emeritus of Chinese Medicine department at OCOM.

From 2008 to 2019, she also taught the Women’s Health and Dermatology Specialty modules at American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) at California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, California.
