The UAHS PRIDE Health Equity Alliance (formerly the UAHS LGBTQIA+ Interest Group) serves our UAHS Colleges (College of Medicine - Tucson and Phoenix, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Public Health). We work toward creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment for LGBTQIA+ faculty, staff, residents, fellows, students, and patients.
The award committee is allotting six awards to recognize individuals who have led in supporting and providing a safe, accepting, inclusive, and respectful environment for our LGBTQIA+ UA Health Sciences Community and allies. The awards highlight people who have exhibited leadership, excellence, commitment, scholarship, innovation and are instrumental in driving change that addresses the unique health issues to create health equity for the LGBTQIA+ communities. Nominators should describe how the individual has contributed to the UAHS LGBTQIA+ community.
Lydia Kennedy UAHS LGBTQIA+ Distinguished Leadership Award: This award will be given to a leader who has demonstrated a strong commitment to building a safe, inclusive and equitable campus for LGBTQIA+ faculty, staff, residents, fellows, students and patients. As a result of their effort, this individual cultivates high-quality, inclusive health care for the LGBTQIA+ community. The nominee may be a member of the faculty, staff, student, or community groups.
UAHS LGBTQIA+ Faculty Leadership Award: For outstanding dedication in creating a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment for LGBTQIA+ faculty, staff, residents, fellows, students, and patients. The nominee should be a member of the faculty.
UAHS LGBTQIA+ Staff Leadership Award: For outstanding dedication in creating a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment for LGBTQIA+ faculty, staff, residents, fellows, students, and patients. The nominee should be a member of the staff.
UAHS LGBTQIA+ Student Leadership Award: For outstanding dedication in creating a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment for LGBTQIA+ faculty, staff, residents, fellows, students, and patients. The nominee should be a student.
UAHS LGBTQIA+ Ally Leadership Award: For a leader who demonstrates visibility in the LGBTQIA+ community due to advocacy efforts, fosters communication to drive understanding and awareness of the LGBTQIA+ community, contributes to the promotion of inclusive, affirming, cultural acceptance of LGBTQIA+ equality and supports the LGBTQIA+ community in shaping a future of inclusive and affirming health care.
UAHS LGBTQIA+ Community Leadership Award: For a leader within the community who exemplifies recognizable LGBTQIA+ advocacy efforts and dedication in making significant contributions advocating for Inclusive and affirming health care for LGBTQIA+ students, staff, faculty, residents, fellows, and patients.
