Families and individuals on the autism spectrum experience significant stress. Psychological resilience acts to buffer against these challenges through the process of adapting to changes in family dynamics, social relationships, and personal expectations. This presentation will review research on resilience and autism spectrum disorder, and provide treatment strategies to improve resilience.

About the Speaker:

Michele Bishop, Ph.D., BCBA-D | Director of Autism Services at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health AZ

Dr. Michele Bishop is the Director of Autism Services at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Arizona. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Nevada, Reno, is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst – Doctoral level, and a Licensed Behavior Analyst in Arizona. Dr. Bishop has over 20 years of experience working in the field of applied behavior analysis, and held positions as a school psychologist, behavioral consultant, research and development manager, and adjunct faculty teaching graduate level courses. Her scientific and clinical expertise is in the areas of behavior analytic assessment and interventions for autism spectrum disorder, curriculum development, and staff training. Her current professional activities involve the development and oversight of comprehensive applied behavior analysis clinical services.
