Guest Speaker: Lisa Kiser, DNP, CNM, WHNP and Beloved Promise

Watch presentation

Lisa Kiser, DNP, CNM, WHNP is a certified nurse-midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner who is on faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona College of Nursing. Lisa’s doctoral project was focused on increasing access to cervical cancer screening in uninsured and underinsured women, and she is committed to increasing access to quality healthcare for all women. Lisa has lived in Central America and enjoys working with women from all cultures and with women who speak Spanish. She greatly appreciates the opportunity to work with women across the lifespan, and offers care to women from menarche (onset of periods) through menopause and beyond. Lisa is a native Arizonan who loves the desert. She greatly values being outdoors and runs, bikes, and hikes. Lisa’s understanding of wellness is one of balance and connection, and she sees her role as a health care provider as one of partnering with patients to build on their own capacity for well-being. Lisa provided care at UCHC’s Continental Family Medical Center and Arivaca locations.

Olympic Medalist Beloved Promise is an honors student working towards the completion of her BSN in nursing. She has spent the past two years volunteering to educate the community about COVID-19 prevention, mentoring her peers, and conducting research on maternal mortality in the U.S. Beloved looks forward to building upon the work she has begun in advocacy, diversity, equity, inclusion, and intersectionality. She aspires to utilize her efforts to create equitable healthcare environments that are safe for vulnerable and marginalized populations. Beloved’s understanding is that unjust environments innately limit the capacity that oppressed people have to pursue and realize wellness. As a healthcare provider, her aspiration is to engage healthcare on local, regional, and federal levels to bring about tangible and timely change.
